Description
The Warehouse Lead Operator serves as an extension of management. The primary function is to train employees, assist with task supervision and production execution. The Warehouse Lead Operator would also be expected to perform all the duties of Warehouse Worker.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments by performing the following duties:
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, chemicals or other stock items. Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Marks materials with identifying information. Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Drives forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to loading dock.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college or technical training related to supply chain, logistics, or business administration preferred
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse, manufacturing, or other industrial industry work experience required
- Supervisory experience highly preferred
- Chemical warehouse operations experience preferred
- Ability to demonstrate leadership skills required
- Inventory management experience highly preferred
- Procurement experience preferred
- Must be proficient in MS Office tools, including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Engage effectively with senior management, project teams, and key functional teams
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be willing and able to work outside, year-round under various weather conditions.
- Must be capable of climbing, lifting 50 pounds, working in a confined space and from elevated platforms, and able to wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Must be highly safety conscientious, aware, strong attention to detail, including the ability to react quickly.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Works well in group problem solving situations.
