Social Media Specialist

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to represent the Brazos River Authority's programs and services via social media platforms supporting the mission, goals, objectives, and strategic plan of the Brazos River Authority (BRA). Responsibilities include: using data analysis to develop and implement strategies and create content tailored to the target audience.; regularly monitoring and reporting statistics to improve overall delivery of content, making recommendations on the appropriate tools and strategies for platform utilization improvement; logging and tracking posts to meet state or federal communication requirements; communicating via various social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube; knowledge of social media scheduling platforms, distilling information into short, engaging social media posts while using texts, photos, videos, and graphics, among others; creating graphics using Canva or other graphics software; Other responsibilities include logging complaints reported on social media channels, interacting with other employees, and any other duties as assigned. Participates in departmental on-call rotation to post and update information on the BRA website and to post information and answer questions and comments on social media.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of best practices for communicating via various social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube; knowledge of social media scheduling platforms, distilling information into short, engaging social media posts while using texts, photos, videos, and graphics, among others; creating graphics using Canva or other graphics software; skill in time management and multi-tasking; Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; Ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions; Ability to work as a member of a team; excellent oral communication skills, ability to exercise good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness, Understanding of Google Analytics and basic search engine (SEO) practices.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent or an equivalent combination of experience. At least one year in mass communications or related field with social media posting trend, analysis and metrics experience.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position will require some rotating 24-hour on-call duty. Occasional work from home flexibility.

SALARY: $22.52 to $28.71 per hour (depending on qualifications). This is a non-exempt position.

BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY, EOE: The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
