What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Intern position at BREC Recreation And Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge?
This is a temporary position designed to prepare a student for a professional level of employment in the Recreation field. Work with the Recreation Department to complete tasks, lead programs and events, attend meetings and assist in certain divisions within the department while gaining a well-rounded experience through the issued responsibilities.
Education Required: Necessary educational requirements as determined by college or university
Area of Study (major) Required: Rec Admin, Therapeutic Recreation, Sports Admin, Outdoor Programming, Education, or related
Certification(s) Preferred: CPR and First Aid
Years Relevant Work Preferred: One year
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Computer and general office skills
- Written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal and public relations skills
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Support professional work related to recreation programming, including working with administration and patrons
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs
- See programs from start to finish in order to evaluate programs
- Interaction with employees and the general public, in person, in writing and by telephone
- Attend all essential meetings associated with the department and affiliated groups
