Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Inpatient Psychiatric team. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care to individuals of all ages, ensuring a safe, respectful, and healing environment. As a valued member of our Behavioral Health unit, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and play a key role in promoting mental wellness and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provide total nursing care to psychiatric inpatients in accordance with established protocols and patient care plans
- Monitor, assess, and document patients’ mental and physical health status
- Administer medications and treatments safely and effectively
- Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation and trauma-informed techniques
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and daily rounds
- Maintain professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Comply with all hospital and unit policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current RN licensure in New York State (GN status accepted with permit filed)
- BLS certification (required)
- Willingness to complete Pharmacology, IV Therapy, Telemetry, Critical Care, ACLS, and PALS courses within the first year
- Prior psychiatric nursing experience is preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills
