General Description
The Pool Manager employed with Briar Ridge Country Club will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the entire pool facility. This position is also responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of those using the Club’s swimming pool. This is a full-time, seasonal position.
This position is under the direct supervision of the Restaurant Manager. The Pool Manager is responsible for following and carrying out all of the Club’s expectations and polices.
The Club’s pool facility is open seven days per week for members, weather permitting between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.
Responsibilities:
- To supervise the activities of pool staff and swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations;
- Interview, hire, train, schedule and supervise all pool and snack bar staff;
- Ensure that members sign their guests in and record guest fees;
- Plan, organize and promote aquatic programs/activities(swim lessons, pool parties, etc);
- To warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards;
- To rescue persons in distress and/or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR, and First Aid;
- To notify the General Manager of any accidents, rescues, or problems that have arisen;
- To report to the Maintenance Engineer any equipment that is in need of repair;
- Perform duties of swim instructor and lifeguard;
- To successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics;
- Adhere to Briar Ridge's expectations encompassing communication, working relations, job reliability and initiative, safety, accomplishment of work tasks, and supervision;
- Attend weekly management meetings and report on operations;
- Maintain and complete accurate records of pool operations, including time sheets, daily reports, accidents, incidents, attendance, finances, and required records for Health Department;
- Inventory and recommend for purchase all necessary forms, supplies and equipment;
- Coordinate with Food & Beverage Director for the purchase of items for concession area;
- Oversee the Club’s Snack Bar area for service, cleanliness and general operations;
- Oversee the general custodial cleaning of entire pool facility including vacuuming, hosing of decks, cleaning filters, and cleaning snack shop and restrooms, as needed;
- Conduct pH and chlorine tests and record in log book;
- Plan and schedule in service training for lifeguards including first aid skills, facility maintenance, emergency procedures and other applicable information;
- Assist members and guests in a professional and courteous manner;
- Interpret all laws, ordinance, rules and regulations regarding the health and safety of all persons using the facility;
- Any other additional duty required by the Restaurant Manager.
Qualifications:
- Currently certified with Red Cross Lifeguard Training
- Current Red Cross or First Aid and CPR/FPR cards
- High School Diploma
- Current Liquor Serving License
- Previous managerial experience preferred
Skills:
An energetic attitude is required to excel in this role. The Pool Supervisor must motivate other pool staff daily. The Pool Supervisor must have knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid, recognize Hazardous situations and adopt effective courses of action. This position also requires effective communication (written and verbal) skills and has the ability to engage positively with all staff, managers, members & guests.
Physical Skills:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, kneel, stand, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility. Duties require attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of unsafe behaviors. This position requires proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first‐aid techniques. This position requires the ability to properly extract victims from the pool(s) to the deck.
