What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Outpatient Pediatrics position at BRIARVISTA PEDIATRICS?

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Assistant to join our outpatient pediatrics clinic. The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of our physicians and provide essential support in delivering high-quality care to our pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and other patient information
  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed by the physician
  • Perform basic medical procedures such as urine catheterizations and nasal/throat swabs
  • Schedule appointments, handle patient inquiries, and maintain medical records
  • Assist with the coordination of referrals, prescriptions, and patient follow-up care
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and medical equipment
  • Adhere to all medical and safety protocols and maintain patient confidentiality at all times

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification preferred
  • Previous experience working in a medical office, preferably in pediatrics
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures

Job Type: Full-time (36-40 hours/week)

Pay: $16-24 per hour, depending on experience

  • 8:00am - 5:30pm, Monday - Thursday
  • 8:00am - 4pm, Friday
  • Weekends only for flu-shot clinics in the fall

Education

  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Medical Assistant Certification

Experience

  • clinical: 2-5 years (preferred)
  • outpatient Epic experience (preferred)
  • NOTE: We will ONLY offer interviews to applicants with EITHER experience in pediatrics or experience using Epic. Preference will be given to applicants with both. Applicants without either experience will be declined.
