What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central supply clerk position at Briarwood Nursing and Rehab?
Summary :
Maintains accurate inventory of all items located in central supply and in each nursing units.
Essential Functions :
Collects and fills supply requisitions, and delivers to the unit / floor.
With supervisor’s approval, orders supplies from designated vendors.
Receives supply shipments and routes packing slips to appropriate department heads.
Maintains an organized and neat storage area and maintains accurate inventory records.
Operates a computer to enter and retrieve data, type correspondence and produce reports.
Maintains, retains and archives files in accordance with Company policy and State and Federal regulations.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and vendors.
Ability to be accurate, concise and detail oriented.
Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
Ability to operate a Personal Computer.
Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes.
Ability to read and comprehend at levels necessary to perform job duties appropriately.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of resident information and privacy regulations
Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
Physical Demands :
To perform all aspects of the job on a day-to-day basis you must be able to lift up to 50lbs. physical work may include walking, moving, standing, twisting, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing and pulling for periods at a time.
Education :
High School or equivalent preferred. Course work or continuing education courses relating to medical field. Medical terminology a plus.
Experience :
One year of experience in shipping and receiving.
Additional Information :
Must be able to work in a team player environment, multi-task, self-directed, flexible, detailed orientated person, and organized;
complete projects in a timely manner and follow through skills. Some Central Supply items for inventory include, over the counter medications, tube feed supplies, oxygen supplies, wound care supplies and personal protective equipment for staff that the clerk is responsible for maintaining, ordering and stocking as needed.
