Bright Haven Child Care Center is seeking a caring, dependable educator to join our team as a Part‑Time Assistant Teacher with the ability to step in as a Substitute Lead Teacher when needed. This hybrid role supports our Infant, Toddler, or Preschool classrooms depending on daily needs. We are a licensed, play‑based center focused on nurturing relationships, positive guidance, and excellent communication with families.

Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. (Additional hours available when substituting as Lead Teacher)
- Status: Employee
- Pay: $18/hour as Assistant Teacher; $20/hour when substituting as Lead
- Classroom Placement: Infant, Toddler, or Preschool (based on need)

Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, secure, developmentally appropriate environment
- Support children with patience, consistency, and positive guidance
- Assist with daily routines, diapering/toileting, meals, transitions, and activities
- Engage children in play‑based learning and age‑appropriate experiences
- Step into the Lead Teacher role when needed, implementing routines, curriculum, and gentle guidance
- Maintain WAC‑compliant supervision and safety practices
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with families and coworkers
- Use Brightwheel for attendance and simple documentation
- Address behavior or developmental concerns calmly and professionally
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, drama‑free work culture
- Work closely with the Director and Assistant Director to support classroom and family needs

Required Qualifications
Applicants must already meet or be willing and able to obtain quickly the following Washington State requirements:
Minimum Required
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Portable background check - completed through MERIT
- Negative TB test documentation
- CPR/FA with Infant Certification
- Blood Borne Pathogens Certification
- Food Handler Permit
- Child Care Basics Certification - completed through DCYF Training
- Safe Sleep Certification - completed through DCYF Training
Preferred
- Experience (in a professional setting) with 6 months - 6 year olds
- ECE coursework and/or STARS training
- Familiarity with Brightwheel
