Duties and Skills
- Experience supporting children with tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures is strongly preferred.
- Must be comfortable providing hands-on support during an active seizure, including remaining calm and following established safety protocols.
- Experience administering rescue medication during a seizure is preferred.
- Candidates must be willing and comfortable administering rectal rescue medication when ordered and trained.
- Must be familiar with or willing to be trained on seizure protocols, including:
- Keeping the child safe during and after a seizure
- Monitoring seizure duration and symptoms
- Knowing when and how to administer rescue medication
- Understanding when emergency services (911) must be contacted
- Ability to provide close supervision and continuous observation, especially for a child with limited or non-verbal communication.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; experience with medication administration and vital signs monitoring preferred
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with families, healthcare teams.
