Reports To: CEO
Compensation: $82 - 95K annual benefits
Brist Mfg. is seeking an experienced Controller to direct and oversee the financial activities of the company; advise and assist the CEO and senior leadership to further the strategy and growth of a rapidly growing organization; develop and implement financial objectives and metrics in alignment with EBITDA goals. The Controller is responsible for the preparation and accuracy of all financial reporting, innovating systems and processes that will drive department gains and efficiencies, setting controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, and ensuring results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Position Summary:
This position oversees the accuracy of the company’s financial data and reporting, is an integral decision-making partner and actively drives continuous improvement and departmental efficiencies. The Controller is a leader of digital transformation, managing and leveraging its financial and operational data to scale for aggressive growth and achieve company wide and departmental objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements including document preparation, data analysis, integrity validation, P&L variance reporting and reconciliations, end of month close CEO summaries
- Analyze and forecast business trends, prepare cash forecast and monthly/annual budget work
- Implement internal control policies and procedures for all financial activities
- Lead tax filings (LNI, SUTA, 941, FUTA, ESD, etc.) and compliance (Wage & Hour)
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and Nexus regulations
- Oversight of general ledger, balance sheet accounts, payroll, AP and AR, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
- Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets
- Work closely with the CPA and banking community, provide reports and financial data as required, participate in audits
- Lead with a “roll up your sleeves” mindset that will ensure the timely and accurate completion of daily transactions, processes, internal and external communication
- Provide insight, collaborate with leadership, and provide recommendations that will drive financial accountability, produce improvements to current processes and promote Brist’s financial strategy and bottom-line initiatives
- Collaborate with the IT Systems Director to support financial and accounting functionality in NetSuite
- Work with organization leadership and staff to develop, monitor and forecast budgets; provide assistance and recommendations where there are financial strains within departments; problem solve and make financial pivots as needed
- Exercise sound fiscal responsibility through a lens of mitigating financial risks and opportunities that protect Brist Mfg. assets and reputation
- Develop, implement, and monitor financial policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, information security, asset tracking control, and legal and regulatory compliance
- Attend, prepare and participate fully in all relevant meetings including but not limited to all company wide meetings, training, accounting department, department-head meetings, and other meetings where finance is represented in critical planning, metrics, etc.
- Work closely with the CEO to provide timely support during M&A discussions including but not limited to: financial reporting and proformas, financial analysis, slide deck presentations and confidential consultation
- Other related projects as requested
Experience, Job Skill, Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance (Master degree preferred)
- Master’s Degree and/or Certified Public Accountant designation is a plus
- 8 years progressive advancement in the field, demonstrated knowledge and experience in cost accounting, financial accountability as a Controller or senior accountant in a manufacturing setting
- ERP optimization experience (NetSuite preferred)
- Advanced knowledge working in Microsoft BI, Excel
- M&A reporting preparation experience
- Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
