What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Paraprofessional position at Bristol County Agricultural High School?
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support to student(s) under the direction of a supervising classroom teacher.
Provide assistance to students with IEPs with accessing the curriculum
Communicate student related concerns to the supervising teacher in a timely, professional manner
Assist the classroom teacher in observing, recording, and charting student academic and IEP goal progress.
Provide support with preparing classroom materials consistent with individual student needs, as directed by the classroom teacher.
Participate in professional development activities and student meetings when requested to do so
Assist with student(s) arrival and dismissal as required by IEP
Respect student confidentiality in all interactions with staff, parents, and school community
Uses specialized strategies and techniques as directed by supervising teacher(s)
Develops an understanding of the student(s)’ accommodations, modifications, goals, and objectives stated in the IEPs
Assists in the implementation of 1:1 or small group instruction and supports including accommodations, modifications, and organizational skills assistance
Assists in implementation of testing accommodations
Assists with study skills and strategies
Models and promotes appropriate communication, socialization, and conversational skills
Supports students’ behavioral issues including assisting with the implementation of behavior intervention plans and collecting data
Collects student work samples as requested
Monitors students in unstructured settings such as hallways, cafeteria, auditorium etc…
Attends field trips when requested
Assists with daily living skills as necessary
Fosters independent learning skills
Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director, Assistant Superintendent/Principal, and/or Assistant Principal.
