What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adaptive Swim Instructor position at British Swim School Pittsburgh?

Are you a swimmer, instructor, or lifeguard with a passion for ensuring that children and adults, regardless of ability, have access to safe aquatic activities? This may be the opportunity for you! We’re looking for dedicated instructors to join our highly reputable, rapidly-growing swim program! As an adapted swim instructor, you are to provide instruction to individuals of all ages and abilities. As part of our Special Abilities Program, you will focus on each swimmer’s individual needs and unique skill set at our Woodlands pool in Wexford.
To thrive in this role, you must have exceptional people skills, patience, the ability to implement individualized plans to progress a swimmer based on needs, and the capability to modify and adapt each lesson as needed. A successful candidate will be compassionate, and have experience and/or interest in working with individuals with diverse abilities.
Qualifications:
· Possession of current Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain from our team within 90 days of employment and maintain certification while employed. (British Swim School has Lifeguard Instructors on site to work with you through this process and hourly rates go up immediately).
· Prior experience working with children with disabilities
· Ability to comfortably swim/tread in all water depths and maintain individual’s safety during classes. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed!
· High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
