Broad Top Area Medical Center, located in Huntingdon County, PA, is seeking a full-time Dental Assistant to assist the dental provider in direct dental care. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures to assure patient care
- Sterilize and arrange instruments in trays and prepare treatment rooms for patients
- Exposing and processing radiographs
- Primary impressions
- Placement and removal of dental matrix
- Placement and removal of temporary restorations
- Application of topical agents
- Charts oral findings
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling appointments
- Responsible for dental supplies; pricing, ordering, inventory and stocking
- Assist in dental lab as directed
- Work with patients in communicating appropriate patient education aspects of patient care, i.e.: extraction or surgery treatment, root canal therapy, etc.
- Indoctrination of other dental personnel (temporary assistants, clinical students, others in related field)
- Perform other duties as required, including billing and insurance claims processing
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a dental assistant program complete with radiographic instruction with clinical experience to carry out required functions
- Passed National Radiographic Exam
- Previous experience as a dental assistant is a plus but not mandatory
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in dental software and Microsoft Office Suite
