Position: Commercial Credit Analyst I |* Division*: Commercial Credit
Work Days: Mon - Fri | Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Purpose of the Position:
Under close supervision, conducts credit investigations, prepares and interprets financial statements for detailed spreading, and analyzes routine credit information pertaining to commercial loan requests. Assists in the preparation of credit information for presentation to commercial loan officers or commercial banking committees; furnishes information in relation to credit inquiries; provides assistance to commercial loan officers as requested.
Key Accountabilities:
- Completes the required assignment as defined in the Banker Development Program [BDP]–Phase I.
- Under close supervision, collects and organizes credit information for use in making lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans by:
- Investigating all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, bank references, and in-house credit information.
- Spreading and analyzing financial statements and related material.
- Under supervision, preparing summaries, presenting facts, and occasionally offering opinions concerning credit-worthiness.
- Provides credit information and references for customers, loan officers, or other agencies as requested by:
- Ensuring that all credit files are kept current with latest financial statement, agency reports, etc.
- Contacting all available sources of information.
- Assembling all pertinent information and reports.
- Keeps abreast of current trends within the industry by maintaining peer relationships, attending seminars, workshops and reading industry periodicals.
- Under supervision compiles the minutes of the Officers’ and Director’ Loan Committee Meetings.
- Attends and participates in various committee meetings.
- Assists with collateral inspections.
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as requested.
Work Experience Requirements:
- 0-2 years of experience in the credit analysis field or in a related field.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for commercial credit analysis.
- Preferred: Above average interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated to work in an on-the-job training environment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree which include 9 hours of Accounting, 12 hours of Finance.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with an above average 3.0 or better GPA.
Other Qualifications:
- Personal Computer experience Microsoft Windows, Word & Excel.
- Preferred: Prior use of financial analysis software.
