Position Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports our Occupational Therapists by implementing individualized therapy plans to help patients improve their fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and overall independence in daily activities. This position plays a key role in creating a positive, motivating, and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Occupational Therapist (OT) in carrying out treatment plans and therapeutic activities.
- Provide direct patient care, monitoring progress and reporting observations to the OT.
- Prepare therapy materials and maintain an organized, safe treatment space.
- Document patient progress accurately and in a timely manner according to clinic standards.
- Educate patients and families on home programs, techniques, and strategies for skill carryover.
- Collaborate with the therapy team to adjust and optimize treatment approaches.
- Support clinic operations as needed, including scheduling assistance and equipment upkeep.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current Ohio COTA license in good standing.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Experience with pediatrics, sensory processing, or vision therapy is a plus, but willing to train.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
