What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Nurse position at Bronx House?

Bronx House Summer Day Camp in Rockland County is seeking a Registered Nurse, ideally with experience in pediatric nursing, school nursing, and / or camp nursing.  Other nursing experience may be considered.  This position runs 7 ½ weeks from

June 30-August 19.  9 am-4 pm, Mon-Fri. $50 / hr.  Transportation is provided from the Bronx to camp daily if needed.

Qualifications :

  • A valid NYS nursing license (RN) - or ability to get one.
  • Experience working in a camp or comparable setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the camp Health Director.
  • Review camper medical forms and set up camper medical logs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked infirmary.
  • Provide medical care to campers and staff daily.
  • Work as a team with camp supervisor and first aid assistant to ensure all camper and staff needs are met.
  • Maintain updated medical logs upon each camper / staff visit to the infirmary.
  • Distribute medication to campers as needed by standing orders of the physician.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
