Position: Crisis Intervention Specialist
Program/Department: 1921 Cortelyou Road
Reports to: Shaddia Torres
Work Location: 1921 Cortelyou Road
Hours: ? Full Time ? Part Time ? Hourly

Responsibilities:

  • Aid residents with navigating work orders (i.e. especially during after-hours) to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner
  • Provide support with managing lockouts and monitoring all activity in building communal areas (i.e. laundry room, community room, 8th floor outdoor deck, etc.)
  • Required to conduct hourly rounds and document all activity in program log book
  • Provide crisis intervention services and complete all incident reports in accordance with DOHMH standards
  • Escort clients to appointments as instructed by Program Director (i.e. medical, psychiatric, Social Security Administration, Public Assistance, and Emergency Room, etc.)
  • Provide program coverage and address all client needs during scheduled shifts (i.e. work shifts will primarily include weekend and night coverage)
  • Work in conjunction with program staff to aid residents with elevating their overall daily living skills (i.e. apartment cleanliness, personal hygiene, laundry, meal planning/preparation, budgeting, entitlements, and navigating systems of care, etc.)
  • Complete progress notes within 24 hours as applicable
  • Provide staff coverage in the event of program vacancies to preserve the quality of care of all residents
  • Facilitate groups as instructed by Program Director
  • Participate in the facilitation of fire drills
  • Aid with coordinating resident move-ins and move-outs
  • Participate in recreational events in the community to increase consumer socialization skills
  • Provide support to community residents and church social programs
  • Attend all meetings, trainings, seminars, workshops, and case conferences as assigned and required
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by Supervisor and Program Director

Qualifications Required:
BSW or BA in human services related field, with a minimum of one years of experience with homeless youth living in supported housing. Fingerprinting and criminal background check required. Position requires direct face-to face contact with consumers and the general public on an ongoing basis. Afternoon and weekend coverage required. In the event of inclement weather and/or public emergency staff is still required to report to work for their shifts unless otherwise instructed by Program Director. BCS and Turning Point require that all employees entering the workplace be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless an exemption is granted as a medical or religious accommodation.
