Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative entry-level junior designer with 1-2 years of professional experience to join the Marketing and Communications (MAC) department. The ideal candidate must have a great eye for design, be equally comfortable in print or digital media, fluent in Adobe suite, and have outstanding communication and organizational skills. The Designer must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and do well with time management. They will work within existing brand guidelines to create printed collateral (posters, bookmarks, brochures) and digital assets for our website and social media channels. They will work with senior designers to support the development and implementation of the company’s branding and visual strategy. This position will report to the Creative Director of Art and Design.
This is a full-time, non-union, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with senior designers and other MAC team members to produce work reflective of BPL’s brand, throughout a variety of media and forma
Remain current on industry trends and technology
Participate in weekly staff meetings, critiques and brainstorming sessions
Maintain a professional approach to feedback and deadlines
Assist in production related needs as requested by the Senior Production Director
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design
1 - 2 years of professional graphic design experience
Works on a MAC and is knowledgeable in: Adobe CS – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Professional (required)
Working knowledge of MS Office – Word, PowerPoint and Excel a plus
Good communication skills, both written and spoken
Good organizational skills that support the rest of the team
