Summary
The Inspector II will be a key member of the Bryant Construction Inspection Team in our Syracuse, NY office, where he/she will inspect of job sites for a wide range of public and private sector clients, to enable their successful completion. Work will be done in support of our multi-disciplinary Survey, Engineering (Site/Civil, Structural and Traffic) and Construction Management firm.
Job Description
The Inspector II will perform on-site inspection of water/storm water, and/or roadway/civil-site work jobs. Work is carried out under the supervision of a Senior Inspector and requires knowledge of appropriate construction practices and specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office a plus.
Proficient with record keeping software to prepare daily work reports
Supervisory Responsibilities
N/A
Travel
Local travel to job sites and client meetings as required. Out of town travel may be required for certain projects.

Job Description
The Inspector II will perform on-site inspection of water/storm water, and/or roadway/civil-site work jobs. Work is carried out under the supervision of a Senior Inspector and requires knowledge of appropriate construction practices and specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)
- Coordinates work with the contractor
- Observes all phases of construction activities for compliance with design documents and client standards
- Documents work as performed
- Prepares daily reports
- Manages quality of projects
- Must possess all required certifications/training for each assignment
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions based on engineering design criteria
- Familiarity with trench dewatering, backfilling and compaction of utility trenches and pavement/surface restoration
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents for desired infrastructure rehabilitation, replacement and upgrades
- Detail oriented
- Problem solver
- Strong interpersonal skills. Able to build and maintain strong relationships with contractor and staff
- Solid project organizational skills
- Must be flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Desire to work in a team environment
- Observes company and client safety requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check
- Ability to pass a drug test
- NICET Level (II) Certification or
- Former NYSDOT Senior Engineering Technician or
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology with 2 years of acceptable experience or
- Acceptable experience (provisional pending NICET certification)
- OSHA 10-hour Training required and Confined Space Entry certification beneficial. Training will be provided if needed.
