Job Summary:
The Remit & Audit Specialist is responsible for managing and processing remittances, ensuring accurate and timely payment transactions. This role involves working with financial data, compliance standards, resolving discrepancies, and coordinating with others to ensure efficient payment and compliance processes. The ideal candidate should have some bookkeeping background, be detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong communication skills to support both internal teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Process incoming payments, including checks, wire transfers, and online payments, accurately and in a timely manner.
2. Verify and reconcile remittance information to ensure that payments match the corresponding invoices or accounts.
3. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between remittance amounts, payment records, and invoicing details.
4. Maintain accurate records of all payment transactions, bank reconciliations and remittance data.
5. Communicate with attorneys and internal teams regarding payment inquiries, compliance issues, or updates.
6. Monitor and manage the remittance process to ensure compliance with company/client policies and procedures.
7. Collaborate with attorneys and internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
8. Assist in month-end and year-end reporting, including reconciling remittance records for financial audits.
9. Identify areas for process improvement and work with management to implement more efficient solutions.
10. Provide support for any other financial or administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in accounts receivable, billing, or a similar bookkeeping/financial role.
- Strong knowledge of remittance processes and payment systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with financial data accurately.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with internal teams and clients.
- Ability to problem-solve and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
