Banquet Servers at Bucks Run Golf Club:
Will greet and serve food and/or beverage to guests. The server/banquet server will demonstrate a positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The server/banquet server must:
- Provide immediate attention to all members/guests upon entering the building, greet warmly, distribute menus (if appropriate) and take food and beverage orders.
- Turn orders into kitchen; inform cooks about any special cooking instructions.
- Serve meal; place dishes by courses in front of each person; serve from left of the person.
- Check back to ensure member/guest satisfaction.
- Replenish beverages as necessary.
- Remove dirty dishes as guests finish.
- Suggest and serve dessert, coffee, and after meal drinks.
- Verify accuracy of prices, taxes, tips and other charges on all checks and present bill to guests.
- Handle all cash, credit cards and member charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Keep tables, bar, dining rooms, banquet rooms, patios and workstations clean and tidy.
- Advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
- Perform side work, clean-up, and closing duties as assigned.
- Ensure that required income, cost control, and inventory procedures are consistently used.
- Comply with applicable health, alcoholic beverage, and other laws/requirements of Bucks Run Golf Club and the State of Michigan.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation according to company standards and Michigan Health Code.
- Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required reports.
- Assist in the set-up and break down of special functions and catered events.
- Perform other duties, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- High school preferred.
- 1-year server experience preferred.
- Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Efficiently handle multiple duties, under pressure, with minimal supervision.
- Work flexible hours as required, including nights and weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner, and professional appearance in all situations.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to:
- Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions.
- Visually inspect all work areas.
- Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers, with or without the use of two-way radios.
- Operate equipment for several hours at a time.
- Perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Retrieve, read, and interpret information from technical sources.
- Stand, sit, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 5 hours at a time.
- Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.
Working Conditions:
Work hours may include days and evenings, on both weekdays and weekends. Servers will be exposed to sharp utensils, sharp and rapid equipment movements, potentially dangerous chemicals, and solvents on a daily basis. May be exposed from time to time to: inclement weather, equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf balls. Injury may result as a result of exposure to the above if safety policies and practices are not properly followed at all times.
