About the Black Urban Farmers Association
Black Urban Farmers Association (BUFA) was established in 2015 by a group of 12 people and countless supporters, all of whom brought their dedication and passion to positively impact change. These individuals had an unwavering desire to grow and make available healthy, all-natural food to the local community. Since then, we’ve built on that dream with the help of an expanded Board of Directors, collaborations with other orgs, donations, and hands-on volunteers. Together, we’ve established an efficient and sustainable small crop, pesticide-free farm. When selecting our crops, we choose efficient, high-nutrition, hearty crops that honor the heritage and legacy of African American agriculture. We prioritize fruits, veggies, and roots with culinary ties to BIPOC food in America. The Black Urban Farming Association is working towards building out its expansion project - Healing Harvest. Healing Harvest will be a new Stockton, California-based farm and community wellness center that will combat the community’s health challenges by providing access to healthy food, education, and wellness resources to help people develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
