Responsibilities:
Bidding Process: Pre-Bid to Completion
- Work in a face-paced environment with multiple projects going simultaneously
- Estimate projects ranging from $2m- $15m
- Collaborate on estimates $15m
- In-depth understanding and reading of construction plans
- Knowledge of construction practices for all sub trades
- Understand and complete client bid instructions and forms
- Understand Bonding/ State License/ State Tax Requirements across the country
- Understand project’s construction duration and post turn responsibilities and be able to relay that information via scheduling software.
- Determine the required sub trades needed for a reasonably qualified estimate
- Attend, coordinate, and provide feedback for pre-bid meetings and/or conference calls
- Setup subcontractor invitation to bids/requests for pricing
- Maintain a tracking list of targeted subcontractors using a reproducible format
- Bid instructions and full communication via phone/email/etc. for subcontractors
- Subcontractor Resources – You will be encouraged to bid a job anywhere in the country where we do not have previous bid coverage or traveling subs
- RFI’s are required and expected for all work. New concepts and irregular designs should be questioned early and reported back to subcontractors as applicable.
- Qualify bids received and compile numbers in excel budget format
- Schedule meetings to communicate directly to the project team
- Vital communication made to establish completion of bids
Project Commitments and Cost Controls
- Project Commitments which include but are not limited to: purchase orders, subcontracts, project change orders, and construction cost to complete
- The project estimator will attend monthly CTC meetings for respective projects. Knowledge of the project buyout status, job to date costs, and understanding of owner/sub change orders will be required.
Experience/Requirements:
- 2-3 years Commercial General Contracting Construction Estimating preferred
- 5 years Commercial Construction Estimating, and Preconstruction preferred
- Conceptual Estimating preferred
- Proficiency in various estimating software, including those used for digital quantity take-off, pricing, and bid invitation.
- Proficiency in of Microsoft Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Preferred experience with scheduling software.
- Must work out of our Louisville, KY Support Center
