Buhl Club TEAM MEMBER EXPECTATIONS
Title: Lifeguard
Department: Aquatics
Supervisor: Aquatics Director
Status: Part-time hourly position
General Function:
The Lifeguard is responsible for the supervision of the aquatic facility and/or aquatic activities to ensure the safety of all those involved. The Lifeguard must maintain all areas in and around the pool.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development Certification (G.E.D.) or student at least 16 years of age.
- Current Lifeguarding certification. The Buhl Club will provide lifeguard certification training if needed.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Child Abuse Clearances and Criminal Record Check
- Ability to interact with children and public
Responsibilities and Principal Activities
In harmony with the Mission, Established Policies, Strategic Objectives and Goals of the Buhl Club, the position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Service Skills
- Maintain constant surveillance of water and pool deck areas.
- Maintain emergency equipment and knowledge of Buhl Club emergency procedures
- Enforce aquatic rules and procedures
- Fill out accident/incident reports as needed
- Close and lock the pool area at night and when no guard is on duty.
- Keep accurate attendance records on a daily basis
- Greet members and program participants in a pleasant manner.
- Know the Buhl Club Emergency Plan
- All other tasks as assigned by designate.

- Be knowledgeable about program areas and share information with members.
- Be knowledgeable about the Buhl Club, its program and policies.
- Recommend participation in a variety of Buhl Club programs.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of the Annual Campaign and actively communicate it to members
- Be able to articulate the Buhl Club’s mission, values and benefits.
