Burke Construction Group is seeking an experienced Safety Manager with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our talented team. This is a position is based in Las Vegas, NV.
Responsibilities
- Continuous inspection of project sites, to ensure a hazard-free environment
- Assessment and approval of subcontractor safety plans
- Verification of tools and equipment to ensure good quality
- Promoting safe practices on site
- Creating and enforcing safety guidelines and programs
- Carrying out drills and exercises on managing emergency situations
- Conducting investigations on accidents
- Verifying that all safety reports are submitted to related government institutions.
- Responding to workers’ safety concerns
- Manages all communications with government departments in regards of safety
- Arranges OSHA-mandated evaluations of the site
- Coordinates all issues regarding hazardous materials or waste
- Assisting with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan
- Attending project planning meetings and collaborating with construction managers
- Establishing and maintaining health and safety communication structures
- Testing effectiveness of site emergency response plans
- Continuous monitoring of all safety related documents, reports, and issues to keep them updated.
- Additional Considerations: Measurements of safety over-staffing (Additional duties adjustment; exceptional safety/health situations; unusual circumstances)
- Additional duties (estimated number of necessary managers to assume duties) adjustment for time required of safety & health staff for duties unrelated or not directly related to safety and should be performed by other personnel, ideally, i.e., claims processing, workers comp administration, disaster planning, pollution control, etc.
- Exceptional health & safety situations (estimated number of necessary personnel to assume duties), special staffing considerations for unusually hazardous working environment or operational procedures requiring special qualifications.
- Unusual circumstances (estimated number of personnel necessary to assume duties) diverse situations sufficient to justify need for additional personnel, i.e., rapidly growing organizations, high employee turnover, unusually poor employee morale.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or related field
- In-deipt knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to leand teach a team
- Great attention to detail
- Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
- Excellent organizational skills
