What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance position at Burley Irrigation District?
The Burley Irrigation District (BID) is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance position. The application must include a current resume and a completed BID Job Application. Come to our office at 246 E 100 S Burley to get more information.
Job Requirements:
- High School Graduate or GED completion
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Obtain a Class A CDL within 3 months of hire date (company paid)
- Successfully complete pre-employment drug testing
- Must be physically able to perform manual labor when needed
- Self-starter who completes work to a high standard with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented, patient, reliable, and good communication skills
- Must be comfortable measuring chemicals, performing measurement conversions, and following safety procedures
- Must be available for schedule on-call availability every 5th weekend during the irrigation season
Description of Duties:
- The maintenance department is responsible for maintaining BID's canal system, facilities, vehicles, and equipment
- Assist in ditch spraying, burning, and weed control
- Help maintain pumps at BID pumpstations
- Perform facility and grounds maintenance as needed
- Operate heavy equipment or dump truck (often on canal banks)
Preference for the Advanced Skills:
- Demonstrated experience with maintenance of irrigation canals and/or pumps
- Established record of safe operation of heavy equipment
- Established record of safe operation of commercial vehicles
- Experience/certification in mechanics, welding, and concrete work
- Certifications for aquatic weed control and pest control
- CDL
