What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cheese Production / Manufacturing position at Burnett Dairy Cooperative?
Burnett Dairy (Cady Cheese) is currently seeking long-term production employees for afternoon and evening shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production:
- Follow standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices
- Set up and operate production machines in accordance with established standards and guidelines
- Prepare and fill cheese forms
- Operate the auger, pre-presses and main press
- Push and pull empty and full cheese carts
- Inspects product for non-conformities and reports any deviations to a supervisor
- Document production activity on all necessary forms
- Wash and sanitize equipment using COP sink, tube washer, foamers, brushes and hoses
- Informs supervisor of plant issues, including machine malfunctions
- Complies with all safe work practices including the use of required personal protective equipment to ensure health and safety of self and others.
Packaging:
- Ensures product identity is maintained for tracking purposes
- Push/Pull full carts into hydraulic cart tipper
- Pull cheese from cheese forms
- Bag and seal cheese
- Inspect product to meet quality standards; visually, seal integrity, label and inkjet integrity
- Sleeve, box, label and palletize to customer specifications
- Reports any significant deviations or non-conformities from quality standards to the supervisor
- Documents production activity on all necessary forms
- Informs supervisor of plant issues, including machine malfunctions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- No experience necessary; will train
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Demands and ability to:
- Frequently lift/carry 50 - 60 pounds
- Frequently push/pull cheese carts
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach and lift above shoulders and lift while bending forward
- Frequently climb steps
- Occasionally kneel, balance and crouch
- Stand, walk and use fine motor coordination throughout the entire shift
- Remain smoke free for a minimum of 10 hours
Availability:
- Rotating schedule, 3 to 4 - 12 hr shifts per wk, OT may be required based on production demands (In Production 6 days a week)
- Shifts; 1pm - 1am, 5pm - 5am
- Government holidays
- Regular and dependable attendance is required.
