SUMMARY:
As the Development Director, reporting directly to the President/CEO of BCCA, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, and executing a fundraising strategic plan to raise funds for the organization in a time efficient and cost-effective manner. Your role will incorporate developing a philanthropy program that will ultimately result in managing a broad binational portfolio of diverse prospects sufficient to sustain and grow the organization in four categories: 1) Major Gifts/Individual Giving 2) Institutional Foundations 3) Corporate Partnerships 4) Government grants.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- The new BCCA Director of Development has the opportunity to build our development program from the ground up
- Create effective development policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and BCCA Mission
- In collaboration with President/CEO raise sufficient funds to fuel the organization year over year and develop and implement endowment building strategies
- Identify, select and implement BCCA’s donor management software
- Develop and establish relationships with the most influential and highest rated donors within our binational region
- Seek and apply for funding opportunities via grant platforms
- Oversee development operations
- Create a donor recognition and stewardship acknowledgement program
- Work with BCCA’s communications consultant to design promotional materials, presentation materials, and increase awareness of an organization's work, goals, and financial needs
- Develop written assets and communications that mirror BCCA’s messaging and mission
- Plan and manage an annual fundraising gala or fundraising events when the times are appropriate
- Work closely with Sr. Director of Program Operations to support development and execution
- Seek opportunities for professional development and ways to apply new knowledge and skills to enhance development program effectiveness
- Present a quarterly report to the BCCA Board Development Committee
- Develop and maintain community outreach, which will include attending community events and gatherings
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience in institutional fundraising and working with foundations
- Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising and donor relations
- Proven experience in planned giving
- Demonstrated success at raising philanthropic support by developing and implementing solicitation and cultivation practices
- Thorough understanding of donor and prospect research and ability to incorporate into methodology and maximize opportunities
- Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Expert organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with standard planned giving software and other funding resources platforms
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and/or professional certification in law, business, financial or tax planning or equivalent experience
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A commitment to continuous learning and improvement; staying updated on relevant research, trends, and best practices in the BCCA sector
- Knowledge of the socio-political landscape and policy issues relevant to BCCA’s focus areas
- Minimum 10 years experience in the philanthropic development arena
- Professional competence with Microsoft Office 365 Suite and Google Workspace
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English is a plus, but not required
- Must have access to reliable transportation
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work at a computer for extended periods; Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds; Occasional travel
Salary : $100,000 - $140,000
