Key Contributions Perform complex administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes Prepare, edit, and/or draft correspondence, reports, pleadings, and legal documents File briefs, pleadings, and other filings in bankruptcy court and state/federal court Plan and schedule conferences, depositions, and/or meetings Maintain calendars including court deadlines and appearances Plan and prepare travel arrangements Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as needed Process expense reimbursements Answer incoming calls; prepare documents for shipment; and distribute mail Open and maintain client files, cases and organizational documents Respond to inquiries for information Other responsibilities as needed The Essentials At least two years of experience as a bankruptcy or litigation legal secretary/assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department environment Associate's degree or equivalent or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge of PACER, UCC/title search procedures, and other electronic filing procedures is required Proficient with Word 2016 and dictation equipment Ability to type 50 wpm Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and a team player who takes ownership Balance competing priorities and work effectively under pressure Strong verbal and written communication skills EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled Burr & Forman is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to recruiting, hiring, developing, and promoting lawyers and staff without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, military and protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, transgender status, sex stereotyping, or disability.
