I. MISSION
Founded in 1989, Burton Enright Welch (BEW) is an independent, fee-only financial planning and investment management firm in Walnut Creek, CA with $1 billion in assets under management.
BEW seeks an Advisor to assist Senior and Lead Advisors with financial planning and investment management for their clients. The Advisor will help execute BEW’s detailed Client Experience roadmap, which includes analytical checklists, communications, and updates to financial plans. The Advisor will assist Senior and Lead Advisors in meetings and present analyses and recommendations for clients and prospective clients.
The Advisor should be eager to learn, intellectually curious, and desire a culture that promotes collaboration, initiative, and professional growth. While a well-established firm, BEW prides itself on being open to new ideas and adopting new processes and technologies.
The Advisor is not expected to bring in business. Long-term, BEW expects the Advisor to progress to a Lead Advisor, which would include owning Firm initiatives, managing younger advisors, and taking more of a primary role with BEW’s new and existing relationships.
Candidates should have a Certified Financial Planner designation or be on track to receive the CFP® designation within one year of hire.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Senior and Lead Advisors to support financial planning and investment management for clients. Act as main point of contact on certain issues.
• Develop and present financial planning and investment management strategies.
o Client communications are clear, prompt, responsive, and courteous
o Works with firm resources on client deliverables
• Support business development by working with Senior/Lead Advisors to engage prospective clients.
• Act as a subject matter expert on financial planning software and plan implementation.
• Work closely with Client Services Team to ensure seamless client experience.
• Follow BEW’s Client Experience and ensure delivery to core client relationships.
• Act as primary advisor for some clients.
• Assist the efforts of the firm’s Investment Committee and Financial Planning department
• Mentor younger advisors.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree
• CFP® or similar designation
• CPA and CFA designations are also welcome.
• 3 years of experience as a client-facing financial advisor
• Leadership experience a plus
• Experience with custodial platforms (Fidelity, Schwab, TD, etc.)
Skills and Knowledge:
• Excellent communicator (verbal, written and listening)
• Strong interpersonal skills (integrity, humility, respect, empathy)
• Ability to manage multiple client relationships
• Extensive and up-to-date knowledge of financial planning and investment topics
• Effective at time management and multi-tasking
• Effective and pleasant working in a team setting
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Past use of CRM system
