| GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Heavy Transportation Instructor is responsible for the delivery of quality education to students in Grades 9 – 12 that adheres to required curriculum standards. The Instructor is responsible for employing effective teaching practices to ensure that all of our learners are the best prepared for success in the workforce and higher education. Students participate in the Skills USA career-technical student organization.

| GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Heavy Transportation Instructor is responsible for the delivery of quality education to students in Grades 9 – 12 that adheres to required curriculum standards. The Instructor is responsible for employing effective teaching practices to ensure that all of our learners are the best prepared for success in the workforce and higher education. Students participate in the Skills USA career-technical student organization.
Courses taught include:
- Ground Transportation Maintenance: Students learn to inspect and perform general service on vehicles, including engine, drive train, suspension, steering, electrical and braking systems. Students will replace spark plugs/glow plugs and ignition wires and coil packs; change fluids, filters and inspect vehicles for leaks and fluids.
- Truck Diesel Engines: Students inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel truck engines. They learn the principles of valve train assemblies, lubrication, intake, exhaust and fuel systems.
- Truck Brake Systems: Students perform inspections, troubleshoot malfunctions, and service truck brake systems by identifying poorly performing air brake systems and replacing malfunctioning components.
- Truck Electrical Systems: Students diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems, including chassis electrical, charging, starting and lighting systems. Students will learn the fundamentals of DC electronics including series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits.
| QUALIFICATIONS
- Appropriate licensure/certification through the Ohio State Board of Education or ability to obtain proper licensure. Applicants must meet ONE OF THE FOLLOWING requirements to be considered for this position:
- Currently hold SBOE licensure in Medium/Heavy Truck Technician (171200) OR
- High school diploma AND at least 5 years of relevant work experience AND willingness to & ability to complete Ohio’s alternative teacher licensure process;
- Current, valid ASE Master Medium-Heavy Truck Technician certification;
- Willingness and ability to work with students and as a team member;
- Effective and demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills;
- Valid driver license;
- History of strong work record, including good job attendance; and
- Documented evidence of acceptable criminal record as required by Ohio law and Board Policy.
