What are the responsibilities and job description for the Science Teacher position at Buxmont Academy?
Buxmont Academy, a Pennsylvania licensed private academic school, is seeking an engaging secondary level science teacher. If you enjoy working with at-risk students, have excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoy learning, this position is for you.
Buxmont Academy has 6 campuses in southeastern PA and uses restorative practices to encourage students to grow academically and emotionally. Classes are small with a high teacher to student ratio, and our staff work together as a part of an educational team for each student. Salary is $23/hour. Hours are Monday through Friday, 20-29 hours per week.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree or higher level of education.
- A PA teaching certificate or a science certification.
- Satisfactory State Criminal Record Check, State Child Abuse and FBI checks.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Desire to teach secondary school-aged students and ability to adapt to their developmental status.
- Capability of designing lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner while following the principles of restorative practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team.
- Proficient computer skills.
