Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Optician to join our team.
As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. You will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as providing expert advice on lens selection and frame styling. Your knowledge of optical products and commitment to delivering outstanding customer service will contribute to the success of our practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and budget
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes, including pupillary distance and frame dimensions
- Adjust eyeglasses to ensure proper fit and comfort for customers
- Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and treatments available to enhance their vision
- Provide guidance on frame selection based on facial features, fashion trends, and personal preferences
- Perform repairs and adjustments on eyewear as needed
- Maintain accurate records of customer prescriptions, orders, and payments
- Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to ensure accurate prescription interpretation and fulfillment
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in optical technology, products, and industry trends
Experience
- Previous experience as an Optician or in a similar role preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry and ophthalmology
- Familiarity with optical equipment and tools used for measurements and adjustments
- Understanding of ocular anatomy, physiology, and common eye conditions
- Proficiency in medical billing procedures related to vision care services
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear manner
- Basic understanding of retail math for pricing calculations
- Experience working with senior care patients is a plus
- Familiarity with aseptic technique in handling contact lenses
