Job Description:

The Drafter/Estimator will play a key role in supporting our project teams by preparing detailed drawings, accurate cost estimates, and material takeoffs. This position requires an individual who is proficient in drafting software, has a strong understanding of construction processes, and can produce precise and timely project estimates. The ideal candidate will be skilled at reading blueprints, performing quantity takeoffs, and preparing cost breakdowns to ensure efficient project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting:

• Prepare detailed construction drawings using CAD (AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect, SketchUp or other drafting software).
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project managers to refine designs and ensure accuracy in drawings.
• Update and modify existing drawings to reflect changes in project requirements.

Estimating & Takeoffs:

• Perform accurate material and labor quantity takeoffs from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Prepare detailed and cost-effective estimates for various construction trades (e.g., structural, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
• Analyze project specifications and plans to determine cost factors and pricing strategies.
• Generate and submit comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring all project scopes are covered.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to gather pricing and scope details.
• Provide support to the project team by addressing any questions or concerns related to estimates and drawings.
• Assist in reviewing contracts and change orders as needed.

Quality Control & Documentation:

• Ensure all drawings and estimates comply with company standards and construction regulations.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of project files, estimates, and material takeoffs.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a drafter, estimator, or takeoff specialist in the construction industry.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
• Solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
• Experience with performing accurate quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed cost estimates.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction specifications.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with project teams.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• A degree or certification in drafting, construction management, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
