What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deployment Strategist position at Cabana?
Deployment Strategist
Clearance: Top Secret (minimum)
Alternate job titles that could mean you align: Deployment Strategist, Program Manager, Project Manager, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Strategy & Operations, Data & Analytics, Consultant.
We’re hiring a Deployment Strategist to sit at the intersection of data, product, and real-world operations, embedding directly with customers and turning messy, high-stakes problems into working systems.
This is not a strategy-in-a-deck role.
It’s a build, ship, deploy, iterate role.
You’ll work with teams who already know data should be driving decisions — defense, logistics, healthcare, operations — but need someone who can actually make that happen on the ground. You’ll drop into complex environments, figure out what’s broken, and help turn software into something people rely on daily.
Think: part operator, part product thinker, part data translator.
What you’ll actually do
You’ll embed with customers (often onsite) and own outcomes end-to-end:
- Walk into unclear, messy environments and figure out what the real problem is
- Sit with analysts, operators, and leadership to understand how work actually gets done
- Identify the datasets that matter (and the ones that don’t)
- Work directly with engineers to wire data into reliable pipelines
- Design workflows that fit real users, not slide decks
- Build and run demos that unlock buy-in
- Train teams until the product becomes mission-critical
- Present results to everyone from operators to senior leadership
- Feed field insights straight back into product and engineering
- Help scope new deployments across industries and geographies
You’ll be context-switching constantly. One week you’re untangling operational workflows. The next, you’re helping shape product direction based on what you saw in the field.
You might be a fit if you.....
- Think like an operator: “What actually moves the needle here?”
- Are comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete information
- Enjoy being dropped into new environments and figuring things out fast
- Can translate between users, data, and engineers without losing nuance
- Care more about outcomes than ownership or credit
- Have low ego and high accountability
- Want to see your work used in real, high-impact settings
- Are open to ~25% travel and being where the problem is
Useful (but not required)
- Experience with Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, or similar tools
- Background in logistics, operations, supply chain, aviation, readiness, or defense-adjacent domains
- Experience working with complex workflows, messy data, or real-world constraints
What this role is not
- This is not a passive analytics role
- This is not pure consulting with handoffs and decks
- This is not a back-office position — you’ll be in the field, in the work, owning results
