Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Yard Spotter drives the switch truck to move the trailers on and off the dock. This position directly impacts customer satisfaction and profitability.
Due to the physical demands of this job, it is essential that correct lifting techniques, proper body mechanics, as well as applicable safe work practices be utilized.
Principle Function Responsibilities
Load trucks by hand and do other misc. shipping duties as needed Currently working 11 -12 hours a day. This position will require to move 28 foot and 53 foot trailers on and off of dock doors using a yard tractor (Ottawa). The person will need to understand Third Party Carrier equipment. The average number of trailers moved in a 10 hour shift is 85 but could be as many as 110 operating out of 85 dock doors. Must have good communication skills work safely and be able to work well with others and take direction from several Supervisors. Will be required to cover the off shift for vacations with notice. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. Must be willing to work on the dock if needed.
Essential Qualifications
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, perform very physical labor and lift consistently up to 75 pounds Must have a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License.
