JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Housing is responsible for leadership, organization and direction of housing services including but not limited to occupancy management, marketing and communications, policy and contract compliance, affordable housing for large groups of people and associated billing processes, while supervising staff, dealing with governmental agencies, creating growth plans, and setting budgets at the same time. This position directly supervises the occupancy management housing team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Housing is responsible for general administrative work with a wide supervisory and management and leadership responsibilities. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to occupancy management, knowledge of accounting, financial management, budgeting, investments, and knowledge of sound business practices. The housing authority operates through laws passed by congress and the tribe and under rules and regulations issued by Department of Housing and Urban Development.
*The Director of Housing is responsible for general administrative work with a with a wide scope of management and leadership responsibilities. The Director accomplishes the Caddo Nation's strategic objectives by planning, organizing, and directing all functions required to operate and maintain activities to enhance the quality of life by providing, safe, sound, and affordable housing and good quality homes for Tribal members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is principally sedentary, but may involve some physical exertion such as kneeling, crouching, or lifting, and travel to meetings, conferences or workshops in other cities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee's work involves the normal risks or discomforts associated with an office environment, but are usually in an area that is adequately cooled, heated, lighted, and ventilated.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, Marketing and Communications or related field
Three (3) years of experience administering housing assignments and/or managing institutional housing occupancy
Three (3) years of supervisory experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
I. Knowledge of HUD policies
2. Knowledge of Authority policies,
3. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with other employees, residents, outside organizations and the public, and deal effectively with situations requiring tact and diplomacy, yet firmness.
4. Ability to communicate with and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, tenants and other employees.
5. Ability to plan and prioritize duties.
6. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
7. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
8. Knowledge of modern office equipment including copiers, personal computers (Microsoft Office Package— Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), calculators, etc.
9. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with administrative rules, regulations and policies, and to explain selection rules and procedures to prospective tenants in an objective and impartial manner.
