POSITION: Scale House Attendant
LOCATION: Fresno, CA
REPORTS TO: On-Duty Supervisor/Division Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Scale House Attendant functions as the front line customer service contact for all vehicles entering the materials recovery facility (MRF), Cedar Avenue Recycling and Transfer Station (CARTS). Vehicles entering the facility transport construction and demolition debris, organics (food/green waste), trash and recycling from commercial and residential customers into the MRF for processing. The Scale House Attendant always works with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, professional manner.
The Scale House Attendant works safely and responsibly while complying with all operational policies and standards required by the company.
The Scale House Attendant is responsible for greeting customers, answering questions
and for being at their work station at all times. If a break or lunch period is required, the staff member must contact the on-duty supervisor and wait for coverage by another staff member before leaving their post.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
- Operates a computer scale to weigh items/materials brought to the MRF, collecting fees and issuing receipts
- Visually inspects contents of vehicles so that hazardous, illegal or prohibited items are not deposited at the MRF.
- Enters tickets into computer, including interpreting a variety of material codes.
- Maintains a safe work environment for themselves and all co-workers at the facility.
- Physical/environmental demands: standing, walking, hearing, and observing continuously; hand coordination, handling, and wrist motion continuously; bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed. Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, and noise. The job is in the scale house.
- Immediately report all emergencies (e. g. fires, accidents) to the proper manager/supervisor on duty.
- Provides general upkeep of the scale house.
- Completes all administrative tasks
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Positively represents the Caglia brand while at work each day.
- Required to work overtime, weekends and during emergency conditions.
- Performs other job related duties as needed or assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Microsoft Office 365 experience
- Data entry skills required
- Preferred qualifications: Bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience with cash handling
- A minimum of one year of lead customer service experience.
- Scale house experience preferred but not required
EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or G.E.D is required.
