We foster a culture that celebrates diversity, creates a sense of belonging, and advances equity.Student Assistant, Alumni Programming (Mentorship)The Cal Alumni Association (CAA) is seeking a detail-oriented Cal student to support the Alumni Programming Department. Job assignments will include assisting with development of event programming, working at in-person events, managing virtual events, data entry, building e-newsletters, building marketing content, managing departmental inboxes, and overall support for the CAA Alumni Programming Department, with a focus on the Cal Alumni Mentors program. The student should have considerable experience using Google Workspace applications, as well as be excited about engagement with co-workers, alums, and students of all ages and backgrounds. The applicant should be comfortable with spending several hours a week in front of the computer, as well as occasional evening and weekend event work (as assigned). Cal Advancement Data System (CADS) experience is a plus.We are flexible with your schedule to make sure you can balance school work and this position. In addition to gaining valuable professional experience, you will interact with great staff and alumni here at CAA. Hours: 8-10 hours per week during the semester, very flexible around classes. Location: Hybrid: Work remotely and at Alumni House on the UC Berkeley campusPay Rate: $19.90 per hour, work‐study preferred Deadline: Apply by Monday, February 2, 2026Supervision and Classification: This position reports to the Senior Program Manager, Mentorship and Program Manager, Events within the Alumni Programming department and will collaborate with and support other team members on assigned projects. The Student Assistant job is classified as an at-will, temporary, non-exempt position. Responsibilities: Assist staff with managing mentorship program through My Berkeley platformProvide staff support at CAA-hosted events, especially Meet Your Mentor event once per semester. Additional event staff needs will be discussed with the Program Manager, EventsAssist staff with developing, proofreading, and editing of communication materials and internal documentsAssist with phone calls, emails, and inquiries from alums and studentsResearch professional development resources for students and alumsAssist with updating training and program resource documents as assignedAssist with preparation of activity reports to track alumni engagement and eventsLook up alumni in CADS and update records as needed Work April 2026 in-person eventsAssist with virtual events as neededProvide ongoing administrative support to Programming department Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and complete projects in a timely manner. Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and assertive. Good oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive data Ability to edit and proofread; able to understand CAA's brand and editorial standards. Knowledge of the English language, including grammar, syntax, and punctuation. Competency using Microsoft and Google appsAbility to learn and use complex databases Ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds including staff, students, volunteers, and alumniAble to lift boxes up to 30 pounds and willing to move equipment and supplies around campusMust submit to and pass a background investigationPreferred Qualifications:Experience using Monday.com or similar project management softwareExperience using Eventbrite event management softwareExperience using CADS
