CONVENIENCE SITE ATTENDANT

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The person in this position assists the public by providing direction and information on sorting solid waste and recyclable materials at a collection site. Duties include keeping the site neat providing information about operations and policies to customers assisting disabled customers and assisting the maintenance of records and daily reports of collection site activity. Special working conditions: subject to inside and outside temperatures and environments. Reports to the Convenience Site Supervisor.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES PERFORMED
- Greets all individuals and answers any questions the citizen may have.
- Assists residents in the proper disposal of waste and recyclable material; encourages residents to recycle.
- Ensures residents use facility in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operates the refuse compactor monitors the open top containers and notifies GDS when pulls are necessary.
- Cleans and collects litter at the collection site and surrounding areas.
- Opens and closes the collection site as scheduled.
- Secures all equipment buildings and gates upon closing.
- Performs preventive maintenance on specified equipment; notifies the Convenience Site Supervisor if any site maintenance is required.
- Follows “Daily Guide” for guidance in operating site.
- If site has a Swap Shed then attendant is responsible to keep shed orderly and make sure non-appropriate items are discarded.
- Performs related tasks as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
This position requires the ability to read and write with some experience dealing with the public or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
