Production Assistant - TEMP

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Assistant to join the MacRostie Winery production team! Reporting to the Assistant Winemaker, this hybrid role is responsible for supporting the winemaking teams in different areas of production, integrating across cellar, lab, winemaking, and bulk wine sourcing.  This role is based in Healdsburg, CA and is a temporary, non-exempt position, working Mon.-Fri. with flexibility during harvest and peak production periods.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Prior experience in wine industry is required. 
• Prior experience with cellar operations is required. 
• Prior experience with lab procedures and basic analyses are preferred but not required (titrations, pH measurements, etc.)
• Prior experience with bulk wine market is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift and carry 50lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of the winemaking process, including interpreting and communicating results to winemaking team.

Must be able to provide U.S. Work Authorization without current or future sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. The individual will be asked to assist with cellar operations as needed with grape processing, cap
   management, inoculations and additions to wine and/or juice, wine transfers, filling, topping, and
   stirring barrels, etc.
2. Forklift driving including full and empty bins from trucks and dumping, barrel stacking, in addition of
   other forklift operations when needed
3. Performing sanitation responsibilities to include cleaning of tanks, floors, crush pads, drains, bins and
   other production equipment and other production equipment and spaces.
4. Supports and assists cellar and laboratory procedures at external production facilities including
   bottlings and inventory (barrels, dry goods, chemicals).
5. The individual will be asked to assist as needed with grape-vineyard sampling as well as juice/wine
   sampling and analysis.
6. The individual will be asked to assist as needed to perform pre-bottling analysis, QC checks during
   bottling.
7. The individual will be asked to assist as needed with Lab data entry into Microsoft Excel and Vintrace
   winery software, Work Order Entry/Completion etc.
8. The individual will be asked to work with our winemaking teams on sourcing bulk wine for
   Distinguished Vineyards including requesting samples, procurement coordination and other logistics.
9. Maintains a high-level of communication with bulk wine brokers to understand bulk wine market.
10. As a boutique winery our team work close together though the harvest assisting each other’s
    department, which makes a unique experience for the candidate to get to work and see every step of
    the process.
