Job Description And Duties
Are you a strategic communicator looking for rewarding work that has a positive impact on the people of California by providing vital, timely and accurate health information? CDPH is looking for a new Communications team member to help promote the ideals of health equity for all Californians. If you have a passion for public health, community service and empowerment, this position is for you!
Under the direction of Information Officer II, Media Relations, the Information Officer I (Media Relations Specialist) will plan and execute public health communications activities, including, but not limited to, coordinating interviews, developing strategic communications plans, creating communications materials (such as news releases, media advisories, key messages, talking points, and website copy), and more. As a part of the Media Team, the Information Officer I (Specialist) will also work with digital, print, and broadcast media, fielding media inquiries and requests to share valuable public health messaging to the public.
This position is hybrid, with expectations of two in-office in Sacramento. This is subject to change at any time based on departmental needs.
This work supports the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by performing difficult tasks associated with a comprehensive program to inform the public of activities and objectives of CDPH.
