Job Description And Duties
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full Time Stock Clerk position in General Services, Laundry Center. The Stock Clerk is under the direct supervision of the Laundry Supervisor. A Training and Development assignment may also be considered.
The Stock Clerk in the Laundry is responsible for the timely and efficient receiving, storing, sorting, and distributing of clean and dirty laundry, such as patient clothing, linens, blankets, towels, mops, aprons, etc., while upholding all hospital and government sanitation regulations; performing quality control checks of clean clothing to identify condemned or reusable items; processing monthly and daily orders of all stock items; marking new linen and bedding articles with the hospital's identifier utilizing a stamping machine; conducting monthly inventory of all stock items; responding to inquiries from hospital staff pertaining to the Laundry Center; working collectively as a team-player; applying sustained work habits; practicing a safe work environment by ensuring laundry carts are spaced in accordance with Fire Code regulations; and enforcing hospital security regulations by conducting daily inventories of all cutting tools utilized for daily tasks.
This position is interchangeable with the duties performed in the Clothing Center, which consists of receiving and issuing new and used patient clothing, shoes, jackets, etc.; stocking and storing clothing articles utilizing a pallet jack or man lift, while exercising proper ergonomic techniques; reviewing, adjusting, and processing daily orders; operating a bar-code scanner and downloading data into inventory database; marking stock items with the hospital's identifier utilizing a computerized labeling system, manual marking machine, or a heat set machine; responding to inquiries from hospital staff pertaining to the Clothing Center; and working independently with minimal supervision.
Successful candidates must possess experience in the methods and practices of receiving, stocking, storing, sorting, and distributing supplies; the understanding and processing of requisitions; conducting inventories; comprehending and adhering to hospital and government regulations; exercising proper ergonomic methods, such as bending, lifting, and pulling; communicating efficiently with hospital staff, management, and the public; applying good organizational skills; practicing sustained work habits; working independently; and performing duties in a teamwork environment.
