What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAFF SERVICES MANAGER I position at California Energy Commission?
Under the direction of the Assistant Executive Director of Governmental and International Affairs, the Staff Services Manager I is responsible for leading, coordinating, and advising the Energy Commission’s collaborative activities with international governments interested in advancing clean energy and related policies, including but not limited to, China, Mexico, India, Australia, Norway, and Denmark. The incumbent will work in close coordination with the Assistant Executive Director of Governmental and International Affairs, Commissioner Energy Policy Advisors, Commission staff, and interagency partners. This position requires knowledge of the state’s engagements with other countries and subnational governments on energy and climate policy matters. This position requires the incumbent to handle politically sensitive issues; reason logically and creatively and utilize a variety of analytical techniques to resolve complex issues; communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with policy-makers, the public, interagency partners, and other Commission staff; establish and maintain project priorities and complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner; develop procedures, policies, and program alternatives and make recommendations; and adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding attendance, leave, and conduct.

Working Conditions
The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.
