What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Sheriff position at Callaway County?
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Road Deputy. Starting salary is $47,250 annually ($22.72 per hour) with a full benefits package, including free health insurance, retirement package, vacation/sick/holiday time, etc.
Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, POST certification, and the ability to type 35 words per minute. Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, CVSA, and an initial and secondary interview.
The job duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Patrolling the assigned zone, which includes monitoring residential and commercial settings, assuring that premises are secured, and maintaining professionalism.
- Maintaining an awareness of persons who have outstanding warrants and maintaining vigilance for such persons and serves warrants, as required.
- Serving legal documents and advising the court when such documents have been served.
- Attending court, as needed, to provide testimony.
- Responding to notifications of suspicious or criminal activity.
- Conducting analysis of situations and determining the appropriate course of action, assuring for officer and public safety.
- Making arrests or settling disputes on site, requesting assistance as needed.
- Completing reports in a professional and timely manner.
- Other duties, as assigned.
