Come join our team and help us change lives and create joy! We are currently hiring to fill our Young Adult Transition Specialist position, a vital role in preparing our transitioning young adults to be successful as they graduate the program. We also have puppies!
The Transition Specialist reports to the Transition Home Residential Manager and develops relationships with our emerging young adults that will promote positive family and peer relationships, encourage life skills development, and healthy decision making. The Transition Specialist will ensure there is healthy program culture and norms, minimize risks, ensure student safety within the team/home, and are crucial in helping our emerging young adults to launch into true adulthood. Being a Transition Specialist involves more than offering tips or advice to your students; they know their students, assess their areas of deficit, work to efficiently set goals and formulate strategies to help the students meet those goals, and collaborate with the treatment team.
Transition Specialist's suggestions are based on realistic expectations, creating steppingstones for their students rather than overwhelming or unattainable goals. The Transition Specialist acts as a sort of life coach for the students, meeting with them regularly (at least weekly) to discuss their progress in meeting their goals. The Transition Specialist is responsible for supporting and motivating students as they work toward lifestyle improvements and dealing with each student's issues on an individual basis to determine the proper strategy for their needs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience developing teams
- Experience with adolescents/young adults (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
