Job Description And Duties
Under the direction of a Senior Construction Engineer, the incumbent serves as a Critical Path Method (CPM) Schedule Engineer responsible for supporting the staff of assigned construction projects. Incumbent performs various technical office tasks, analyzes special provisions, plans, estimates, regulations, and construction progress, and makes decisions and/or recommendations on schedule related Contract Claims and potential claims, and CPM construction schedule issues both during construction and after acceptance of the project. Engineering relating to CPM construction schedules are performed on a regular basis for Resident Engineers, Construction Engineers and Construction Management.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Special Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
- Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing (including presentations), and work under pressure
- Ability to identify problems and use a logical analysis to find information, understand causes, and evaluate
- Experience creating and reviewing CPM schedules
- Experience and knowledge of contract administration and the Dispute Resolution process as detailed in the Standard Specifications
- Proficiency with P6 or other CPM scheduling software
- Experience in developing and maintaining positive working relationships and the ability to deal effectively with others in a conflict situation
