Our clientele includes the railroad, mining, automotive, renewable energy and most recently the aerospace industries. Job Summary:
- The Assembly Technician/Builder will assemble machinery, equipment and subassemblies following technical drawings and other written and/or verbal specifications along with understanding the overall machine design and purpose.
- Once the custom-made equipment is shipped to the client, you will have the opportunity to travel, set up and train clients on their piece of equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assembles machinery, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, sub-assemblies, and more according to directions.
- Interprets technical drawings, schematics, or similar documentation, then builds to those specifications.
- Accurately levels the machine prior to assembly.
- Uses various machines and hand tools (torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, air tools, gauges blocks, and other precision measuring devices) to accomplish assigned tasks, maintain close tolerances, and ensure proper operation.
- Drills, taps, and ream holes.
- Operates overhead crane to position large components or workpieces.
- Inventories tools, parts, and supplies: Contact materials handler if supplies are needed.
- Operates electrical test equipment including multi-meters, RPM counters, and sound meters.
- Domestic and foreign travel as needed for set-up and repair of machinery.
- Assist in machine packing and crating.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer skills required to open and view technical information.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.
- Detail-oriented and consistent.
- Works well as a productive member of a team for on-time shipments.
- Ability to properly maintain and perform repairs on equipment.
- Basic ability in mathematics, reading or writing.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Painting
- 5S & Lean Manufacturing experience
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks for most of the workday.
- Must be able to lift to 50-75 pounds at a time.
- Must have manual dexterity to assemble products or machines as directed.
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
- Must wear eye protection and safety footwear.
