Electrical Tech

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for overseeing the handling, storage, and distribution of materials and inventory for projects at the Ascend Automation and Controls shop in Katy. This role involves processing, organizing, and maintaining inventory, as well as receiving materials from vendors and registering them in the corporate system Deltek. Additionally, the Warehouse Assistant will package, scan, and prepare orders for delivery, fulfill material requests from operations, and maintain accurate records of all movements within the warehouse.

Skills Required 

1. Inventory Management: Proficient in tracking inventory levels, conducting audits, and initiating orders as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels.
2. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to accurately inspect incoming materials against purchase orders, assemble material kits, and prepare shipments with precision.
3. Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with vendors, colleagues, and other departments, and to document and report inventory-related information.
4. Organization: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and maintain cleanliness and orderliness in warehouse and yard areas.
5. Problem-solving: Ability to identify and address issues promptly, such as discrepancies in material quality or quantity, and to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve them efficiently.
6. Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
7. Safety Awareness: Knowledgeable about safety protocols and procedures, with a strong commitment to adhering to safety guidelines and promoting a culture of safety in the workplace.
8. Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using inventory management systems, barcode scanners, and other technology tools to track inventory, generate reports, and maintain accurate records.
9. Physical Stamina: Able to lift heavy objects safely, withstand long periods of standing, bending, and walking, and operate heavy machinery such as forklifts with precision and caution.
10. Team Collaboration: Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to achieve common goals and ensure efficient warehouse operations

Education, Experience & Certifications 

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Physically able to lift 50 pounds or more
• Should demonstrate being responsible, accountable, methodic, and tidy.
• Should be used to work self-paced and based on weekly and quarterly plans.
• Forklift operation Certification desirable.
• Knowledge and experience in heavy loads handling.
