This position is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and implementing a wide variety of high-quality programs that meet the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and individual needs of our residents.
Job Description:
• Planning and implementing all activities including, but not limited to the following categories: physical (exercise), social, recreational, intellectual, educational, creative, entertainment, religious, and other activities based on special requests of the residents that are customized to the abilities of individual residents.
• Developing programs directly related to and designed for Senescence Care.
• Producing a quarterly newsletter and monthly activity/outing calendar for the residents.
• Facilitating socialization among residents.
• Promoting and inviting/reminding residents to participate in planned individualized and group activities.
• Promoting activities in a way that promotes meaning and purpose in residents’ lives.
• Organizing and chaperoning activities outside the community.
• Planning, coordinating, and helping implement the decoration of the community for special events, seasons and holidays.
• Coordinating with the Culinary Team for all food needs for scheduled activities.
• Arranging transportation and staff/volunteer assistants for activity outings and regularly scheduled group trips.
• Recruiting and supervising student interns and volunteers, completing all orientations, and maintaining appropriate documentation.
• Planning and overseeing quarterly the Resident Advisory Committee and playing a key role in their meetings.
• Distributing and following-up with Management Team Directors on compliments, concerns, and complaints brought up at Advisory Committee meetings to ensure proper follow through.
• Participating in local activity planner’s association and exchanging ideas and calendars with affiliated retirement communities.
• Collaborating with residents and staff for monthly birthday parties.
• Scheduling musical events at least once per week and large events monthly.
• Representing the community during any health department or other required inspections, ensuring compliance, and following-up with any deficiencies to ensure compliance are met immediately.
• Responding promptly and working to resolve resident concerns and complaints.
• Completing proper documentation in electronic medical record, including ISPs.
• Overseeing the scheduling of all life and wellness personnel to maintain compliance with budgetary guidelines.
• Meeting with Executive Administrator monthly to review budgets.
• Assisting fellow team members in maintaining a clean, homelike environment that is free from hazards by tidying up spaces, cleaning up after residents, and ensuring that they always look presentable.
• Showing up for work on time and following the appropriate call-in procedure when necessary.
• Maintaining a high standard and professional dress attire.
• Participating in administrative meetings and other gatherings as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred, but not required.
• 2 years of experience or training in similar position in an Assisted Living, Nursing Home or Hospital
setting.
• NWRAA participation preferred, but not required.
• CBRF Registry and Alzheimer’s/Dementia care experience preferred, but not required
